Making time to exercise when you’re a Mum can be tricky. It’s hard enough fulfilling the daily requirements such as eating let alone donning lycra and getting to the gym.
Like most things in motherhood it’s good to think outside of the box, so forget the monthly gym membership and intimidating workouts, here are some great exercises that you can do at home amongst the chaos:
Whilst your kids are settled watching their favourite show or playing nicely for five minutes, rather than aimlessly scrolling through your phone, get down on the floor and into the plank position and work that core!
Make the most of standing still by squatting. Next time your little one is engrossed by Peppa Pig aim for ten squats. Do these each day and you’ll soon have cheeks of steel.
Admittedly you feel like a bit of a fool doing this when you first start; but rather than straining your back when you’re picking toys up off the floor, why not lunge as you do so. It makes a very tedious task more amusing.
Use a gym ball
When you’re helping them with homework or coaxing them into eating their greens, why not sit on a gym ball. It helps you contract your core and work on your posture.
Get the tunes on
Put on your favourite playlist and dance with your mini-me. The Go Jetters will not motivate you.
Do three ten minute sessions
Let’s face it, none of us actually have a 30-minute window so break your exercise into three 10 minute sessions. Way more achievable!
No not away from them but with them. Now that it’s getting warmer I have no doubt you’ll be spending more time outside. So, when they want to kick a ball around do it with them. Have a running race, play tag - anything that gets you all moving.
I hope these quick tips help you…
